1. Things to look for when selecting herbs

Some things we look for in selecting a few herbs for starting your home apothecary and Materia Medica include:
- the strongest herbs we can find in case the dog gets sick and needs them
- herbs that can provide more than 1-2 actions, so we can make do with fewer plants to start with
- couple of herbs from each category of action, for example, 1-2 for the digestive system, 1-2 for the nerves, 1-2 for skincare
- the freshest herbs from the best/most established suppliers
- powdered herbs
- whole herb, cut and dried, whether aerial parts or roots
- herbs you are already familiar with
