Description
HOW IT WORKS
- Once you purchase, the site issues you an intake form to complete and send to me, and I confirm our date to do the recipe. My wait time is currently 1-2 weeks and I will do my best to get you the earliest available. You also receive a file called Welcome Notes which contains more information about the service, what to expect, and more.
- The day of the appointment, there is no set appointment time, but I do need to be able to contact you via email and expect I can hear back within a relatively short period of time. Sometimes I come up against an issue that I need to ask more questions, about availability of specific foods for example, or there may be a question left blank on the Intake. The agreed date is not a set time, but simply the day where I sit down with your Questionnaire and assess your dog, formulate the first recipe – put it all together and send to you. I start with calculations, every nutrient requirement from Vitamin A to zinc (by weight of the dog) and then I get to work formulating.
- Although this consultation doesn’t include follow-up email time or major adjustments, I am always here for you and will accept a bit of email correspondence after you receive the recipe. If more time is required you can always book some – it’s important to me that you are happy with the recipe, your dog enjoys it and I always love to receive feedback over time. If kidney values change, and major adjustments are indicated, that will mean booking again, and in all cases after a year a new service is needed. I do also make a few herbal suggestions with the recipe, and a fuller herbal consult is always available too on my site.
- All recipes are developed using the NRC values. I always work with your preferences and availability, as well as your dogs’ likes and dislikes much as possible.
The next step is a process of nutrient calculation, so all requirements relative to your dog’s bodyweight, age and activity level will be precisely covered- and finally, I develop the recipe and write it up for you with clear instructions as to preparation and transition.
You receive:
- One therapeutic recipe, tailored to your dog’s nutrient requirements, as determined by the National Research Council’s Nutrient Requirements of Dogs (2006) but also geared to the specific needs of the condition(s) you are seeking help with.
- General Dietary Guidelines containing Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) and pointers on everything from cooking techniques, substitutions, individual foods and their nutrient profiles, managing the dietary transition, converting commonly used measurements, food storage and safety and much more
- Additional time beyond my formulation process may be used for questions as indicated.
I can formulate weekly batches for you to prepare ahead of time, or smaller recipes are available as an option for those who prefer to cook 1-2 days at a time; I use raw or cooked as each case suggests is optimal. Once you have booked, I will issue you the Intake form, and confirm your date. My waiting list runs from 3 to 5 weeks, although I can usually make room quickly for urgent cases. Note that second recipes may be purchased at a later date, or an herbal consultation added separately if you decide to incorporate herbs into your dog’s health strategy.
